World Cup Qualifiers 2023: Jahangir’s ton in vain as Nepal beat USA by six wickets.

In an ICC World Cup qualifier Group A match in Harare, Nepal defeated the USA by six wickets, despite Shayan Jahangir’s impressive 79-ball century.

Batting first, the USA managed to score only 207 runs in 49 overs, with Nepal’s KC Karan taking four wickets to dismiss the opposition.

During the chase, Nepal remained in control throughout the game, with middle-order batsman Bhim Sharki anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 77 runs. A late surge from Dipender Singh Airee sealed the victory for the Asian side with seven overs to spare.

Following this win, Nepal, which had previously lost its tournament opener to Zimbabwe, currently holds the third position in Group A, while the winless USA stands fourth.

Nepal’s next match is against West Indies on June 22, while the USA will face the Netherlands on the same day.

Out of the ten teams participating in the three-week qualifier, only two will secure a spot in the World Cup scheduled to take place in India in October and November.

Brief Scores: USA 207 in 49 overs (Shayan Jahangir 100, Sushant Modani 42; KC Karan 4/33) lost to Nepal 211/4 (Bhim Sharki 77, Dipender Singh Airee 39) by six wickets.
