Player of the Match: Jasprit Bumrah

Pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah made a successful return, leading India to a two-run win over Ireland by DLS Method in the first T20I of the series.

Bumrah, returning after an 11-month injury layoff, took 2 for 24 and, along with debutant Prasidh Krishna (2/32), restricted Ireland to 139 for 7 after choosing to bowl.

Despite a shaky start, Ireland’s Barry McCarthy produced an incredible recovery, scoring 51* off 33 balls. He formed a crucial 57-run partnership with Curtis Campher (39), pushing Ireland to a respectable total.

Chasing the target, India had a solid start with Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (19*) putting together 46 runs. However, India lost quick wickets to Craig Young, including Jaiswal and Tilak Varma.

India vice-captain Gaikwad displayed maturity, aware of the DLS par score. Rain interrupted the game, visitors had scored two runs more than the DLS par score when bad weather ended the game.
