Rain denies India shot at full WTC points in Port-of-Spain. The visitors won the Test series 1-0 after no play was possible on day five at Queen’s Park Oval.

India secured a 1-0 victory in the two-match Test series against West Indies, with the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, ending in a draw due to heavy rain on the final day.

On the last day, India was eight wickets away from victory, while West Indies needed 289 runs to level the series. Unfortunately, the heavy rain at the venue prevented any play, prompting both captains to call off the game early.

This win marked India’s ninth consecutive Test series victory against West Indies and also set a record for the fastest team 100, achieved in just 12.2 overs during the second innings of the Test.

Mohammed Siraj received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance in the first innings, where he took 5 wickets for 60 runs, contributing to the Windies collapsing from 229/5 to 255 all-out on the third day.

Reflecting on the match, captain Rohit Sharma stated, “Every win is unique, and playing in the West Indies presents its own challenges. We made a strong effort, but unfortunately, rain had the final say.”

In the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, India currently holds the second position with 16 points and a 66.67% points percentage (PCT), while West Indies sits fifth with 4 points and a 16.67% PCT. Pakistan leads the chart with 12 points from one match and a 100% PCT.

The teams will now shift their focus to the white-ball series, starting with a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, followed by a five-match T20 series, which will conclude on August 13. The first ODI will take place in Barbados on Thursday.
