Brief Score: India 179 for 1 (Jaiswal 84*, Gill 77) beat West Indies 178 for 8 (Hetmyer 61, Hope 45, Arshdeep 3-38, Kuldeep 2-26) by nine wickets
Player of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal
India clinched a resounding nine-wicket victory over West Indies in the fourth T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 179, the highest ever run chase at this venue, India leveled the series at 2-2, setting the stage for a thrilling decider.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (84 off 51) and Shubman Gill (77 off 47) forged an impressive opening partnership of 165 runs to dominate the run chase.
Jaiswal signaled India’s intent with a boundary off the first ball, setting the tone for the innings. While Jaiswal attacked in the initial overs, Gill joined in with a powerful six in the fourth over. The powerplay concluded with India at 66 runs, and the duo continued to maintain a high scoring rate.
Both Jaiswal and Gill reached their fifties in the 11th over and continued to control the game. The opposition bowlers struggled to make an impact as the openers took full advantage of the favorable conditions and short boundaries.
Shepherd claimed Gill’s wicket in the 16th over, but by then, the game was firmly in India’s grasp. Jaiswal and Tilak Varma comfortably secured victory in the following over.
In the earlier innings, India’s Arshdeep Singh took three wickets, and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two crucial wickets to restrict West Indies to 178/8.
Opting to bat first, West Indies began aggressively, with Kyle Mayers hitting 14 runs in the opening over off Axar Patel. However, Arshdeep swiftly dismissed Mayers in the next over. He struck again in the final over of the powerplay, removing Brandon King.
Kuldeep Yadav’s first over, especially the first ball, shifted the momentum in India’s favor as he dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell.
Shai Hope (45 off 29) contributed with boundaries during the middle overs, and Shimron Hetmyer (61 off 39) helped West Indies finish close to 180, setting a challenging total.
The series will be decided in the final match to be played on Sunday.
