Ireland posted a massive score of 349-4 on the back of massive contributions from Paul Stirling (162), Andy Balbirnie (66) and Harry Tector (57) before dismissing UAE for 211.
A commanding performance by Ireland saw them secure a convincing 138-run victory over UAE, finishing the league phase on a high note. UAE, already eliminated from contention, struggled in their response and were bowled out for 211 on a good batting track.
Ireland’s Paul Stirling set the tone with a century, displaying his big-hitting abilities early in the innings. He reached his hundred off 98 balls, while Andy Balbirnie anchored the innings. Stirling and Balbirnie shared a 184-run partnership for the second wicket. Stirling eventually fell for a career-best 150, featuring 15 fours and eight sixes.
Harry Tector continued the onslaught, scoring a quick fifty. Ireland set a target of 350 runs for UAE.
In response, UAE’s captain, Muhammad Waseem, played aggressively and scored 45 before getting out in an unusual run-out. UAE lost wickets at regular intervals, and despite some contributions lower down the order, they couldn’t challenge Ireland’s total.
Ireland’s bowlers, especially Barry McCarthy and Curtis Campher, played crucial roles in picking up wickets. Sanchit Sharma was UAE’s top performer with both bat and ball, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a comfortable win for Ireland.
Overall, Ireland’s dominant performance in batting and bowling secured them a consolation victory, while UAE faced another defeat in the tournament.
Brief Score: Ireland 349 for 4 (Stirling 162, Balbirnie 66, Tector 57, Sanchit 3-46) beat UAE 211 (Waseem 45, Sanchit 44, Dockrell 2-32, McBrine 2-34) by 138 runs.
