World Cup Qualifiers 2023: Logan van Beek stars as Netherlands beats West Indies in Super Over

Chasing 375 to win, Netherlands rode on Teja Nidamanuru’s 76-ball 111 and Scott Edward’s 47-ball 67 to put up a spirited fight.

Logan van Beek played a crucial role in the Netherlands’ Super Over victory against the West Indies in an ICC World Cup qualifier match in Harare on Monday.

In the Super Over, van Beek scored an impressive 30 runs off Jason Holder, including three fours and as many sixes. He also made an impact with the ball, taking two wickets for just eight runs, dismissing Johnston Charles and Romario Shepherd.

Earlier in the game, while chasing a target of 375, the Netherlands relied on Teja Nidamanuru’s 76-ball 111 and Scott Edwards’ 47-ball 67 to maintain a competitive run rate.

With eight runs needed to win in the final over, Alzarri Joseph delivered a brilliant performance by dismissing van Beek off the last ball, forcing the match into a Super Over.

Nicholas Pooran’s exceptional unbeaten innings of 104 from 65 balls had propelled the West Indies to a total of 374 runs.

Brief Score: Netherlands 374 for 9 (Nidamanuru 111, Edwards 67, Chase 3-77) tied with West Indies 374 for 6 (Pooran 104*, King 76, Zulfiqar 2-43). Netherlands won the Super Over.
