WTC final 2023 | Australia crushes India by 209 runs to win World Test Championship title

Australia are World Test Champions after completing a 209-run win over India in the WTC Final at The Oval.

Chasing a mammoth total of 444 runs against the Pat Cummins lead side, India finished at 163/3 by the stumps on 4th day. However, within the first hour of the 5th and final day of the ultimate test, Virat Kohli lost his wicket early on the score of 49 before India’s middle order crumbled as the team got all out on the score of 234 runs in the very first session.

Scott Boland of Australia bowled a rare exceptional spell to dismiss Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in the same over, effectively closing the door on India, who were bowled out for 234 in their second innings on the final day at The Oval.

Australia was clearly the superior team on all fronts, while India could only blame themselves for yet another loss in a global tournament. India’s previous ICC trophy was in 2013, and it was their second consecutive defeat in the WTC final, having lost to New Zealand two years prior.

With this glorious victory, The all-conquering Australian team became the first-ever team to win an ICC title in all three formats of the game.
